Kwabena Amun said Channel 2's Tom Jones that her daughter, Asata Amun, has been missing since February 1. He says his video doorbell captured her leaving their Sugar Hill home, apparently heading toward a friend's house. Unfortunately, Asata never made it to her friend's home and has not been seen since.

Amun said Asata's disappearance had been extremely difficult for him and his two other daughters.

“Every time I have dinner, we have dinner, I look to see if she’s going to ring the doorbell,” he said.

The day before Asata disappeared, she had gotten into trouble at North Gwinnett High School.

Amon said he explored solutions, including the possibility of a military academy, which Asata opposed.

The next day she ran out the door.

“I just want her to be safe. I just want her to come home,” Amun said.

Gwinnett County Police Department Sgt. Collin Flynn described Asata's disappearance as very strange.

“It's obviously very rare for a child to run away from home and not be seen or heard from for many, many months,” Flynn said.

Amon appeals to the public for any information that might help Asata return home.

“I just want to make sure my little girl is okay, that she’s okay,” Amun said.

Anyone with information about Asata's disappearance is asked to contact police.
