The Lowndes County woman charged in the murder of her husband on Facebook Live has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Kadejah Michelle Brown, 29, appeared before a judge Friday and was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the murder of her husband Jeremy Brown, 28. Kadejah will serve 34 years in prison, with the final six years on supervised release.

On the morning of March 26, 2023, officers responded to a domestic violence call at Greentree Apartments in Columbus. Upon arrival, they found Jeremy who was pronounced dead at the scene with a single gunshot wound. Police also recovered a handgun inside the apartment.

Kadejah was charged after discovering the shooting had been filmed on social media. The two had argued before the gun was discharged by Kadejah as Jeremy attempted to leave the unit. Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins noted at the time that both Kadejah and Jeremy had a history of domestic violence.

“There was a history of domestic violence between Brown and the victim,” Hawkins said at the time. “This is a tragic and senseless murder, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family.”
