James Allen Dorr, 46, was charged with more than 20 similar offenses prior to this incident, including a February fire at a home owned by Habitat for Humanity, according to court records and previous KOMU 8 reporting.

On June 22 around noon, officers responded to a call about a burglary, according to court documents. The caller reported seeing a man — later identified as Dorr — enter a residence whose owner she knew and said no one was supposed to be there, according to court documents.

Upon arrival, an officer saw Dorr standing on the porch of the residence, carrying a black backpack. While inspecting the residence, Officer Jesse Ritter reportedly noticed that someone appeared to have been staying there for several days, according to court documents. Ritter also saw an air filter covered in cardboard, which had been burned inside the residence near the back door, according to court documents.

Ritter contacted the owner of the residence, who said he had not given anyone permission to enter his residence, according to court documents. The homeowner said he surprised a man inside the residence on June 21 and told him to clean up his mess and leave, according to court documents.

While searching Dorr's bag, law enforcement discovered a pipe containing methamphetamine, which was later field tested and positively identified as methamphetamine, according to court documents.

Dorr allegedly admitted that he remained inside the residence for days, knowingly entered without permission, owned the pipe containing methamphetamine, and consumed of drugs on the date of his arrest, according to court documents.

Dorr is being held without bond at the Boone County Jail, according to online jail records. Dorr's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 30 at 9 a.m.
