Collier County Sheriff's Office rescues dog from flood

On a rainy Wednesday morning in Immokalee, the Collier County Sheriff's Office arrested 43-year-old Romeo Gabriel-Lopez on animal cruelty charges. According to NBC2, it was pouring rain and poor Robo, a young bully terrier, was stuck in a flooded kennel up to two feet deep, tied to a pole as if he were in some sort of prison.

Fortunately, detectives went to Gabriel-Lopez's home to rescue him. They found Robo practically swimming in his so-called shelter. Meanwhile, the county was battered by rain, under watch for tornadoes and flooding. Basically, it was the perfect storm, and Robo found himself right in the middle of it.

Collier County Sheriff's Office Arrest:

Gabriel-Lopez was not at home, probably doing who knows what, but detectives from the Collier County Sheriff's Office were able to reach him on the phone. He must have realized that the problem was over because he agreed to return Robo without much fanfare. Later, after putting all the pieces of this soggy puzzle together, deputies returned and handcuffed Gabriel-Lopez.

It's insane how anyone could leave their dog in such a horrible situation. I mean, we're talking about a young puppy, not some kind of fish. Luckily, the authorities intervened, saving Robo from his water-logged nightmare.

Gabriel-Lopez now faces charges for failing to provide adequate shelter and illegally tethering his dog. Props goes to the Collier County Sheriff's Office for intervening and helping Robo. It's a sad reality about how some people treat their pets. I hope this little Robo finds a better home where he can stay warm, dry and without being tied up and alone.
