Club Q shooter to be sentenced in federal case | Courts

Anderson Aldrich, the convicted killer of the Club Q mass shooting, is set to plead guilty and accept prison time Tuesday in federal court.

On June 26, 2023, Aldrich pleaded guilty to 51 state charges for killing five people and injuring nearly two dozen others at the Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ nightclub Club Q in November 2022. .

Aldrich was sentenced to five life terms in prison – one for each count of first-degree murder – and an additional 2,208 years in prison for each count of attempted first-degree murder.

Earlier this year, 74 federal charges were filed against Aldrich by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado. The federal charges include 50 hate crime charges and 24 gun-related charges.

The criminal information sheet filed Jan. 5 specified that Aldrich's attorney had already agreed to a plea deal that would prevent Aldrich from receiving the death penalty.

Aldrich is expected to formally plead guilty and accept “multiple concurrent life sentences” and an additional 190 years in prison at a hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday in federal court in Denver.

Aldrich currently resides at the Wyoming State Penitentiary, according to a previous article in The Gazette.
