Clayton County Sheriff's Office searching for armed suspect

The Clayton County Sheriff's Office said the area of ​​Upper Riverdale Road and Arrowhead Blvd should be avoided due to the presence of law enforcement.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County Sheriff's deputies are searching Tuesday evening for a suspect in Clayton County who they believe is armed and dangerous.

The Sheriff's Office asked people to avoid the area of ​​Upper Riverdale Road and Arrowhead Blvd due to law enforcement presence in the area. The agency then released another update stating that they were looking for Dequan Wright.

According to the Clayton County Police Department, officers responded to the 200 block of Upper Riverdale Road in reference to a disturbance. While responding, officers heard gunshots and then began pursuing the subject, who was suspected of shooting while fleeing officers.

The sheriff's office said the individual involved fired three shots and was specifically looking for Wright. He also mentioned that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Wright is 6'4 and 170 pounds, according to the sheriff's office. He should wear a tank top, skinny jeans and no shoes. The sheriff's office encourages anyone who spots him to call 911.
