Clay County Sheriff's Office Prepares to Keep People Safe for 'Boaters Jump Day' at Bayard Point

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Florida. – Hundreds of boaters and community members will descend on Bayard Point Friday for Clay County “Boaters Day.”

Ahead of the highly anticipated game day on the St. Johns River, the Clay County Sheriff's Office said it is doing everything in its power to ensure participants have fun and stay safe.

Although Boater Skip Day is an unofficial hook fishing day, law enforcement will be fully staffed and other agencies such as the Clay County Fire Department will also be on duty. alert.

“Our number one concern is the safety of everyone who participates,” Cook said during a Facebook Live Wednesday.

The Sheriff's Office will have resources to deploy in the event of an emergency. Boat ramps will fill quickly, so CCSO will mark entry and exit points.

People are advised not to park their vehicles illegally as tickets and towing will be imposed.

Cook also stressed the need for attendees to be patient and urged them to arrive early.

She also advised people to watch out for pedestrians and people entering and exiting the water.

“Remember, be patient, be smart, and if you need help, know that we are here to help.” Otherwise, I hope everyone enjoys ‘Boater’s Day,’” Cook said.
