Clawson man stabbed on his own porch speaks out as suspect charged

CLAWSON, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Clawson man is facing charges, accused of stabbing another man on his own porch over the weekend.

Police said that around 11:19 p.m. Saturday evening, they were dispatched to a home located on E Baker, just off 14 Mile Rd. and N Main St. There, they found a victim suffering from two large lacerations .

The victim was Aidan Nason, 21.

Nason says it all started earlier in the day at Clawson City Park, where he encountered a group of four young men he recognized.

“People I've had incidents with in the past. People I've spoken to the police about, they're told to stop walking past my house, it's just regular harassment. They're young people kids who just got their license, they're stupid, it's usual but they went a little far this time. » Nason said while recounting the incident.

Nason said he attempted to leave the park on his bike and continued through downtown Clawson to Birmingham, Royal Oak, and then back to his home in Clawson, but the group continued to follow him. Nason says this all happened over several hours before someone from the group approached him and ultimately stabbed Nason on his own porch.

“I was really in shock. I was angry. I didn't really know how to feel,” Nason said.

When police arrived a short time later, the 21-year-old was taken to hospital. Nason's family says one of the stab wounds narrowly missed his heart, according to doctors who operated on him.

“We're dealing with 33 staples (in my back) and then 13 in my arm,” Nason said of his injuries. “It hurts and then I also tell myself that I have a good job and I can’t even go to work.”

With the help of license plate reader technology and the Troy Police Department, officers located and arrested 18-year-old Michael Angellotti. Angellotti was arraigned Tuesday on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. His bond was set at $125,000.

George Nason, the victim's father, says although police made an arrest, he wants everyone involved to be held accountable.

“One of these guys came right outside our porch, if you can imagine that, and my wife was on the couch here and she looked and she didn't want to answer, and then all of a sudden it's arrived.” George Nason said as he sat down next to his son. “Only one has been arrested, which leaves three accomplices and it looks like they're going to get away with it. The criminal justice system isn't working properly if that's the case.”

Nearby Clawson Public Schools sent the following letter to parents after the incident:

Good evening CPS Families,

I'm touching base regarding an unfortunate incident that occurred in the Town of Clawson late Saturday evening involving former Clawson Public Schools students, which resulted in serious injuries to one of them. The incident has nothing to do specifically with our school district, but a number of our current students witnessed the unfortunate unfolding of events. Police have apparently been in contact with them about what they observed and are investigating the altercation.

That being said, please know that we have been in contact with law enforcement and are very aware of what happened. As we continue to prioritize the safety of students and staff, out of an abundance of caution, we will have a police presence tomorrow and throughout the week on our CHS/CMS campus.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

THANKS!

Billy Shellenbarger
Superintendent
Clawson Public Schools

Superintendent Shellenbarger said because several current students witnessed the incident, they requested an increased police presence on high school and college campuses Tuesday.

Shellenbarger reiterated that the incident did not take place on school grounds and that the additional safety measures were a result of an abundance of caution.

The suspect is due back in court on June 4. Police could not confirm whether they were looking for other suspects, but said the investigation was ongoing.
