City of Round Rock to offer mental health resources after June 16 shooting

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The City of Round Rock is offering mental health resources to help individuals and families heal following Saturday's shooting at a Juneteenth event at Old Settler's Park.

“We encourage everyone affected by this tragedy to understand the importance of prioritizing their mental health and to take advantage of these resources,” said Annie Burwell, program manager for the Crisis Response Unit. “Together, as a community, we can support each other and begin the healing process. »

The Round Rock Fire Department's Crisis Response Unit can be reached during special extended hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 16-21 by calling 512-218-5501.

The press release states that team members will be available to answer calls, provide advice and training, and to schedule an in-person appointment if necessary.

Outside of CRU extended business hours, the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Disaster Helpline is available 27 hours a day, 7 days a week to U.S. residents. Multiple languages ​​are available by calling or texting 1-800-985-5990.
