Update on shooting in the 400 block of Grand Avenue

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) would like to provide an update on last week's shooting on June 19, 2024, in the 400 block of Grand Avenue.

During the preliminary investigation, it was initially reported that 15 people had been shot. After further investigation, we determined that 14 people were shot during this incident.

The same evening, less than half an hour after the shooting in the 400 block of Grand Avenue, officers were dispatched to a shooting in the area of ​​10th Avenue and E 24th Street Investigators have since learned that this was a double shooting and that one of the individuals was transported privately to a local hospital and was initially believed to be the 15th suspected victim from the previous shooting. Both individuals are expected to survive and OPD has arrested two individuals in connection with this shooting.
