Chilling photo of missing former NFL star's 14-year-old son with bruises and eye injury

The teenage son of an NFL star went missing earlier this month, shortly after he was photographed with a swollen lip and damaged eye.

Police issued an emergency alert Friday for Bryson Muir, the 14-year-old son of former Colts player Daniel Muir, who has been missing since June 16 and considered in danger. The teenager was last seen leaving his grandmother's house with his parents more than two weeks ago.

Police stopped his parents' car minutes after he left the house, but he was gone. When his parents couldn't locate him by noon Friday, they apparently stopped cooperating with police regarding his disappearance.

When Cheryl Wright's daughter asked her to raise her grandson earlier in June, she saw terrible bruises on his face, according to the grandmother. “He just said his dad did it, but he wasn't mad, but he wasn't mad at his dad. He told me he deserved it and it was OK,” Wright told WTHR.

“So I told him that was not the case and that no one should beat their children like that, not if they love them.” After Wright drove Bryson back to his residence in Cleveland, he was reportedly picked up on June 16 by his parents, brother and an unidentified adult male a few days later.

Wright, however, reportedly contacted police before Bryson's parents picked him up. Police stopped the van Bryson was being taken in minutes after he was taken from Wright's Ohio home.

However, Bryson had disappeared from view. When asked what happened to Bryson, Wright said, “The only thing the cops told me was that they probably put him in another vehicle and drove away,” according to the site.

“He is considered to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance,” Indiana State Police said in a statement Friday. Since the Silver Alert was issued, there have been no updates on Bryson’s whereabouts; however, authorities said his parents are no longer involved in the investigation.

Bryson's parents, Daniel and Kristin Muir, had agreed to have their son meet with investigators at noon Friday. Police said the Muirs backed out of the agreement an hour before the scheduled meeting.

Before the scheduled meeting, police were unable to contact Bryson's parents, leading to rumors that the “cult-like” church they are members of might be involved.

The Servant Leader Foundation owns the land where the Muir family resides as well as the vehicle used to transport Bryson from his grandmother's house, according to police.
