Child pornography; armed assault; fire not suspicious – Brandon Sun

A 39-year-old Brandon man has been arrested for allegedly accessing child pornography online.

Police arrested the man on Frobisher Crescent on Wednesday and seized his electronic devices.

He is due in court on August 15.

Assault with a weapon

A 42-year-old man was arrested for making threats with a screwdriver early Wednesday morning.

Around 1 a.m., police were called to the 200 block of Eighth Street for reports of a suspicious man.

Police said the man was ordered to leave the property before arriving, but instead allegedly walked forward with his arms raised, holding a screwdriver while making threats.

Officers then located and arrested the man. During a search, police allegedly found the man in possession of a screwdriver and two lighters, contrary to his probation order.

He was due to appear in court on June 6.

A fire not suspicious

A fire at a home in the 300 block of 16th Street Tuesday morning is not considered suspicious, Brandon Fire and Emergency Services Chief Terry Parlow told The Sun.

Police responded to the scene around 6:42 a.m. There were no occupants in the building and BFES extinguished the fire.
