Child died after falling into water near Mesa apartment complex, police say

A six-year-old boy died after falling into “water surrounding an apartment complex” in Mesa Tuesday afternoon, police said.

At approximately 1:15 p.m. on June 11, Mesa Police officers responded to the nearby area Reference roads and electric roads for a report of a child in the water.

It was apartment complex employees who noticed the young boy and took him out.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered that the child had been taken out of the water and that someone was administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Officers took charge of CPR until firefighters arrived and medical personnel and continued life-saving measures,” police said.

The child was taken to hospital but around 2 p.m. the child died.

The child's parents live here on the property and it is unknown where they were when this happened.

“At this time, this appears to be a tragic accident. Our prayers go out to the family. This is also a great reminder to always keep an eye on your children, especially around water,” said Detective Mesa police. » said Richard Encinas.

The Mesa Police Department is investigating this incident.

Mesa PD says this is the 10th water-related incident in Mesa this year and the fourth fatality.
