Chicago Woman Arrested After Threatening, Biting ISP Agent – ​​95.3 MNC

A Chicago woman has been arrested after threatening and biting an Indiana State Police trooper during a traffic stop.

On Saturday, June 29, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Officer Justin Baumeister was patrolling I-94 when he saw a silver Hyundai speeding. The car, registered in Illinois, was traveling at 105 mph in a 70 mph zone, weaving without a turn signal and passing on the right. Officer Baumeister activated his lights and stopped the car after a brief delay.

The driver, Shelby E. Foster, 22, of Chicago, displayed signs of intoxication and was verbally aggressive. She claimed her relative was a Chicago police officer and demanded that the officer call her. While searching her purse, Baumeister found two fake Illinois IDs.

On the way to the Porter County Jail, Foster managed to remove one of her handcuffs. When Baumeister stopped to secure her, she resisted and bit his right arm. After restraining her, Baumeister continued to the jail, where she threatened him and his family and refused to submit to a chemical test. She also spat on a jail guard while in custody.

Foster is provisionally charged with the following offences:

Assault by Bodily Fluid (2 counts) – Level 6 Felony

Intimidation – Level 6 Crime

Assault on a public safety officer in the exercise of his duties – Level 6 felony

Resistance to Law Enforcement – Class A Misdemeanor

Reckless Driving – Class A Misdemeanor

Driving a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person – Class A misdemeanor

Disorderly Conduct – Class B Misdemeanor

Driving a vehicle while intoxicated – Class C misdemeanor

Possession of False Identification Documents – Class C Misdemeanor
