Chicago Fire FC Announces Commemorative 4th of July Jersey Auction

CHICAGO (July 1, 2024) – Chicago Fire FC today announced the launch of the July 4 Commemorative Jersey Auction, with all proceeds benefiting the Chicago Fire Foundation’s PLAYS (Participate, Learn, Achieve, Youth, Soccer) program, presented by Meridian. The jerseys feature specially designed, limited-edition numbers on the back of the jersey in honor of Independence Day. They will be worn by Fire players during the July 3 game against the Philadelphia Union and autographed after the game. The auction opened Monday morning at 12:00 p.m. CT and will close at the end of halftime of the July 3 game.

Paying homage to the colors that symbolize America’s heritage, the Fire will wear their signature red jerseys with a starburst motif reflecting the red, white and blue color combination in the name and numbering to celebrate the holiday. The commemorative jerseys were designed to reflect the patriotic spirit while seamlessly blending the design with the Chicago Fire’s iconic Return to Red look for the country’s 248th birthday.

All proceeds from the July 4 commemorative jersey auction will benefit the Chicago Fire Foundation to support the organization’s ongoing work in the Chicagoland community and will be used to support the Foundation’s PLAYS program, presented by Meridian. The Chicago Fire Foundation’s PLAYS program is committed to improving the academic performance and development of key social and emotional (SEL) skills of elementary school students through a sports-based program that serves more than 1,200 youth each year. The PLAYS program not only teaches football skills, but also explicitly teaches SEL (social and emotional learning) traits and values such as emotional control, goal setting and achievement, cooperation and respect, communication and teamwork.
