Chennai: A teenager was arrested for celebrating his birthday by brandishing a sword and cutting a cake on the road in the city's Vyasarpadi area. The problem emerged after a friend uploaded the music video to social media. Police said the arrested person was identified as Manimaran alias Appu, 30, resident of Vyasarpadi.

Appu celebrated his birthday with his friends in the middle of the road. One of his friends gave him a sword. Appu, wielding the sword, danced fiercely on the road to the music, while one of his friends filmed and posted the 'reels' video on social media. After the video was brought to the notice of the police, the Vyasarpadi police station team apprehended him, based on the Arms Act, 1959. He was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, after a Tasmac seller demanded Rs 10 more for a bottle of liquor, a customer grabbed the PoS (point of sale) scanning device from the Tasmac unit and fled to Otteri near Perambur. Police have launched a search for the man. Police said the incident happened at a Tasmac outlet on Strahans Road on Tuesday. A customer who came to the store had asked for a bottle of liquor, and when the sellers demanded Rs 10 more from the customer, he argued with them.
