Chelsea begin pushing to sign 'one of a kind' teenager before Arsenal

Chelsea are now in a transfer battle with Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen to sign talented teenager.

Based on Chelsea's transfer activity over the last two years since the change of ownership, it's clear that they were looking for some of the best emerging young players in the world.

The Blues have invested in some superb youngsters for the future, even if that leaves the first team lacking experience and know-how.

It seems that the club will continue to persist with this transfer strategy based on long-term planning.

Now, Chelsea are linked with a young Frenchman.

Chelsea push to sign 19-year-old talent

Le10 Sport claims Chelsea are among clubs interested in signing Stade Rennais player Gifted Desire.

It is understood that Chelsea are starting to push their interest in the Ligue 1 striker.

The report states that Enzo Maresca's side are trying to convince the teenage winger to move to west London.

Doue, 19, is taking his time to decide on his future as he is also attracting attention from Mikel Arteta's Arsenal and Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen.

Le10 Sport adds that the Rennes striker wants a transfer this summer and that his club is listening to offers at the right price.

Who is Désiré Doué?

Chelsea's new transfer target is an exciting youngster with an excellent reputation in French football.

The left winger has already made 76 first-team appearances for Rennes since his breakthrough, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists.

Baptiste Santamaria, the Rennes midfielder, has already delivered a glowing verdict on his teammate Doué.

Santamaria told TNT Sports in April: “He (Doue) is a very talented player with great football sense. But he is still young. But he is a player who aspires to go to the biggest clubs. He is unique: he likes to hit the ball but he is strong on his feet. Desire's technical, percussive and physical qualities are quite incredible. When it becomes more consistent, it will be unplayable. For his age, he is the most talented young person I have seen in my career.

The emerging French teenager will be unknown to most of the Premier League public, but Chelsea fans might be a little more intrigued after hearing the praise above.
