Chautauqua Co. man arrested after multi-city police chase

(WJET/WFXP) — A Dunkirk, N.Y., man was arrested Monday afternoon after allegedly leading police on a chase through several towns in Chautauqua County.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, officers attempted a traffic stop on South Roberts Road in the town of Sheridan on June 3 around 1:30 p.m. When the driver failed to stop, a pursuit ensued. is followed.


Officers pursued the driver through the town of Sheridan, then through Arkwright and into the town of Pomfret before finally stopping on Spoden Road in Pomfret.

After arresting the driver, identified as Philip Decker, 26, of Dunkirk, police discovered he was driving under the influence of drugs and searched his vehicle and found 19 grams of methamphetamine, a small, unspecified amount. of cocaine and brass knuckles.

Decker was charged with third- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while impaired by drugs, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree criminal use of related paraphernalia on drugs before being released on his own recognizance.
