Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Closed on Independence Day

July 3, 2024 – Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office

Charlotte County Sheriff's Offices and District Offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Offices will reopen on Friday, July 5, with regular hours.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to enjoy the holidays safely. If you’re drinking alcohol, that means choosing a designated driver, staying where you’re celebrating or arranging another safe means of transportation. Be careful if you’re using fireworks, which are only legal on July 4, December 31 and January 1. If your celebrations include alcoholic beverages, you can also use the AAA Tow to Go service. This program offers safe transportation from Wednesday, July 3 at 6 p.m. through Monday, July 8 at 6 a.m. for anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246 and a tow truck driver will take you to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.

I wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day and remind you to enjoy your holiday season responsibly. There is no excuse for drinking and driving, so take steps today to plan for a safe and sober ride home tomorrow.

– Sheriff Bill Prummel
