Charges filed in downtown shooting near Harris-Stowe State University

ST. LOUIS – Two brothers have been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting near Harris-Stowe State University in Midtown.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's probable cause statement, the shooting happened on the evening of May 18 in the 3000 block of Olive Street, just north of the Harris-Stowe campus.


Police said Jordan D. Huddlen, 27, and three others were driving on Olive and pulled up next to another vehicle when Huddlen and another person fired shots at the second car.

The driver of the second car was not injured. The front passenger was shot in the leg. The backseat passenger, identified as Eddie Randle Jr., was struck and killed. Randle was 19.

The suspects eventually hit another car and injured the driver of that vehicle.

The suspects fled on foot after realizing their car was disabled.

Police said Kevin Huddlen, 31, picked up the four suspects and drove them out of the area. At the time, he was on probation following a federal drug conviction.

Police said Jordan admitted to being in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

The St. Louis District Attorney's Office charged Jordan Huddlen with first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence in furtherance of a felony prosecution, two counts of first-degree assault and four counts of armed criminal action. Huddlen will remain in jail without bail pending trial. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 10 for a detention hearing.

Kevin Huddlen was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, tampering with physical evidence in furtherance of a felony prosecution and four counts of obstructing the prosecution of a felony. He was jailed without bail. He will appear in court again on July 9 for a preliminary hearing.
