Charges after man shot near Boston Common fountain

BOSTON JOINT BECOME A CRIME SCENE AFTER OFFICERS ON PATROL YESTERDAY NIGHT HEARD 3 TO 4 SHOTS COMING FROM THE AREA NEAR THE BREWER FOUNTAIN. POLICE ALSO SEE A MAN IDENTIFIED AS DANA LOWDER, CURRENTLY RUNNING, TIGHTENING HIS BELT. THE DEFENDANT CONTINUED TO RUN. AGENTS FOLLOWED HIM WHERE DURING THIS CHASE, AGENTS WENT WHAT APPEARED TO BE THROWING A FIREARM AT HIM, WHERE THEY FINALLY RECOVERED THE FIREARM. The 30-year-old LYNNFIELD man remained behind a door and out of sight during his arraignment this morning on weapons and drug charges, but not for the shooting itself. The police report I was given does not say there were any witnesses to this shooting. The police did not witness this shooting, only they heard gunshots. POLICE FOUND A MAN SUFFERING FROM A GUNWOUND. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES. We were in the area and responded very quickly to the scene and actually, you know, again, we arrested the person of interest right away. Loder was out on bail for two other cases, including one very similar to the common Boston incident. COURT DOCUMENTS SHOW THAT LODER FIRED SHOTS IN DOWNTOWN LOWELL IN 2021, WHICH WITNESSED BY OFFICERS NEARBY. Chase then captured it on stage. WHILE WATCHING HIM, THEY HEARD A SECOND SHOT AND OBSERVED A FLASH FROM THE MOUTH OF THE DEFENDANT'S FIREARM. Now, no one was injured in this shooting in Lowell in 2021, and once again, the victim of last night's shooting here on the Boston Common is expected to survive. LODER, MEANWHILE, IS HELD BEHIND BARS UNTIL A DANGEROUS HEARING ON MONDAY.
