Century Felon charged with aggravated assault for hitting woman with handgun: NorthEscambia.com

A Century felon is accused of hitting a woman in the head with a handgun and possessing a weapon.

Kenneth Elbert Hammac, 41, was charged with aggravated domestic violence with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon – all felonies.

The victim told the Escambia County Sheriff's Office that Hammac accused her of cheating before hitting her in the head with what she thought was a flashlight and pushing her against a table. He then pointed a handgun at their 15-year-old son, according to an arrest report.

The 15-year-old told deputies that Hammac pointed a gun at him and demanded to know who was there, the report continues. The teen told police that Hammac hit the victim in the head with the butt of his handgun.

Officers noted large lacerations bleeding profusely on the disoriented victim's head and a table covered in blood. She was transported by Escambia County Emergency Medical Services to Jay Hospital for treatment.

According to ECSO, Hammac was convicted of a felony, convicted of cocaine possession in 2008 and sentenced to two years in state prison.

The Florida Department of Children and Families was contacted regarding the incident.

Hammac was released from jail on $100,000 bail.
