A Centralia man accused of stabbing someone with a butter knife, threatening to kill witnesses who spoke to police and headbutting an officer early Saturday morning was indicted Monday in Lewis County Superior Court.

Trenton Noel Toms, 21, allegedly “began panicking and hitting a television” after he and a group of friends went out to a bar on the evening of Friday, June 28, and returned to a residence in the 3000 block of Borst Avenue early Saturday morning, according to court documents.

“Toms was becoming aggressive and uncontrollable, so the women decided to bring Toms’ girlfriend back to their residence,” witnesses reported.

After Toms “got out and started banging on their car window, saying he wanted to talk to (his girlfriend),” the girlfriend returned to Toms' apartment. Toms then allegedly prevented her from leaving and then “tried to attack” a man in the group, according to court documents.

The man said he “put Toms in a rib cage to prevent an assault” and then Toms “stabbed him with a butter knife in the forearm.”

Officers from the Centralia Police Department were dispatched to the scene at 3:42 a.m. on June 29, according to court documents and Centralia Police Department call logs.

According to court documents, Toms was allegedly “intoxicated” when he was questioned. He reportedly “admitted that he was drunk and still completely crazy.” He allegedly tried to get out of his handcuffs multiple times during his arrest.

According to court documents, Toms allegedly yelled at witnesses to “shut the fuck up” and threatened to beat them once he was released.

When told he had just committed the crime of harassment, Toms allegedly “lowered his head and violently lifted it backward against (an officer's) chest, narrowly missing his chin while he was kneeling behind Toms,” according to court documents.

He was booked into the Lewis County Jail at 4:24 a.m. on June 29, jail records show, and was charged Monday with one count each of third-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, harassment and resisting arrest.

Bail has been set at $25,000. A court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3.
