A day after arresting the principal and vice-principal of Jharkhand's Oasis School in connection with alleged leak of documents of this year's National Eligibility and Entrance Test (undergraduate), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Hazaribagh-based journalist for allegedly helping the two accused.

A source said the accused was identified as Mohd Jamaludin, who works in a leading Hindi newspaper, and his arrest was made after the CBI received crucial technical evidence against him.

On Friday, the agency had arrested Dr Ehsanul Haque, the school's principal, and Imtiaz Alam, deputy director and Hazaribagh district coordinator for NEET-UG appointed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Both work at the Oasis School in Jharkhand, where investigators suspect that the alleged leak occurred.

On Thursday, the CBI had arrested two people from Patna, who allegedly made accommodation arrangements for NEET-UG candidates on May 4, a day before the exam – the same day they allegedly memorized the solved paper. Four people interviewed are among the 13 accused in this case, in addition to five other arrests made later.

On June 22, the education ministry handed over the case of alleged irregularities in this year's NEET (UG) to the CBI for “deep investigation”.
