CBI arrests Jharkhand journalist in NEET-UG paper leak case | India News

A day after arresting the principal and vice-principal of Jharkhand's Oasis School in connection with the alleged leak of this year's National Eligibility and Entrance Test (First Cycle) papers, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Hazaribagh-based journalist for allegedly helping the two accused.

A source said the accused was identified as Mohd Jamaludin, who works for a leading Hindi newspaper, and his arrest was made after the CBI received crucial technical evidence against him.

On Friday, the agency had arrested Dr Ehsanul Haque, the principal of the school, and Imtiaz Alam, deputy principal and Hazaribagh district coordinator for NEET-UG designated by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Both work at the Oasis School in Jharkhand, where investigators I suspect the alleged leak took place.

On Thursday, the CBI arrested two persons from Patna, who allegedly made arrangements for accommodation for NEET-UG candidates on May 4, a day before the exam – the same day they allegedly memorised the solved paper. Four candidates are among the 13 accused in the case, besides five others arrested later.

On June 22, the education ministry handed over the case of alleged irregularities in this year's NEET (UG) to the CBI for “deep investigation”.

CBI conducts searches at 7 locations in Gujarat

Meanwhile, the CBI, which took over the investigation from the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of Bihar, conducted searches at seven places in Gujarat, officials told the news agency. PTI SATURDAY.

The operation reportedly began in the morning at the suspects' premises spread across four districts of Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad and Godhra.
