Cause and location of death of missing San Juan Co. men revealed by investigators

BLANDING, UT (ABC4) — San Juan County investigators shared more information Thursday in the disappearance and murder of two Utah men.

According to Seventh District Court documents, officers responded to the report of the two missing men, William “Drew” Bull and Christopher “Topher” Owens, on February 27.

Cell phone data showed the two left Moab on Feb. 25, drove to the Maverick in Blanding, then drove to Charles Yoo's house.

Cell phone data reportedly showed that the Bull and Owens phones remained in the immediate vicinity of the home until February 27. After that date, the cell phones were turned off and there was no data, according to the documents.

On March 8, officers conducted a search warrant at Yoo's home, working with a forensic team from the State Bureau of Investigation, and found “red/brown stains, believed to be blood.” on the wall and ceiling of the entrance.

Additionally, the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services said it found human blood on a pair of shoes and on swabs taken from several areas of the home.

With the help of cadaver dogs, officers also found burned remains of clothing and carpets buried behind Yoo's house, documents said.

Bodies found

The bodies of Bull and Owens were found in Arizona around March 22, documents show.

Cell phone data reportedly showed Yoo's phone in the approximate area of ​​the location site on March 1.

After further investigation, the cause of death for both men was determined to be gunshot wounds, according to the documents, and bullets and fragments taken from the bodies matched one of Yoo's weapons.
