Catholic Charities releases statement on reported shooting near Spokane Falls Community College | Spokane News

SPOKANE, Wash. – Catholic Charities has released a statement regarding a shooting reported June 14.

A spokesperson for Catholic Charities said police responded this afternoon to a report of a shooting at Mother Teresa Haven. The facility, owned and operated by Catholic Charities Eastern Washington, was placed on lockdown.

The spokesperson confirmed there were no injuries and expressed uncertainty over who was involved.

“Our top priority is the safety of our staff and residents. As a precautionary measure, nearby accommodation, including Sisters Haven and Rising Strong, has also been placed on lockdown until further details are revealed,” a spokesperson for the Catholic charity said. “We are currently providing on-site advice and support to residents. We appreciate SPD’s quick and comprehensive response and are grateful that there were no injuries.”

The Spokane Police Department responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 1900 block of North Holy Name at 2:42 p.m. on June 14. SFCC confirmed the school was on lockdown while the Spokane Police Department searched for a suspect.

SPD asks you to avoid the area as this is an active investigation. SPD said a group of youths were in the parking lot and dispersed after the shooting. Officers may be looking for multiple suspects.
