Cass County Sheriff Shares Updates on Absaraka Illegal Immigrant Situation

CASS COUNTY, N.D. — Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner said a local construction company owns a home that is currently housing 11 illegal immigrants in Absaraka.

Sheriff Jahner shared the information on the Need to Know morning show Monday morning. The property is at the center of controversy, after authorities recently discovered the presence of 11 illegal immigrants, who apparently live there. The sheriff also expressed frustration with trying to work with federal border security agencies, with some citing the recent “political climate” as a reason for not being able to intervene.

“The residence was purchased by an individual who owns a few properties that he purchased. They own a construction company. Through our investigation, we learned that they are using the properties to house people who are helping with construction work “Jahner said. .

Speaking about federal law enforcement cooperation, Jahner says little has changed in terms of assisting in resolving the incident. However, the sheriff mentioned unnamed local and state agencies, which he said have spoken to him about possible changes to the law in the upcoming legislative session.
