The case against a Farmington Hills teenager accused of shooting a Pontiac man, leaving him paralyzed, has been brought to Oakland County Circuit Court for a possible trial.

Following a preliminary examination Wednesday in 50th District Court, Judge Ronda Gross ruled there was probable cause to commit Karvyon Murphy's case to the higher court.

Murphy, 19, faces several criminal charges for the April 7 shooting at the North Hill Farms apartment complex in Pontiac. A woman was also injured.

Murphy allegedly fired several shots at an apartment on Fireside Lane, hitting a 20-year-old man in the neck. That man is now paralyzed, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. A 19-year-old woman was also inside the apartment and was shot in the arm, the sheriff's office said.

The shooting stemmed from an altercation at the apartment a few days earlier, and investigators later identified Murphy as the shooter, the sheriff's office said. He was arrested on Seven Mile Road in Detroit on April 23 by the sheriff's fugitive apprehension team.

Murphy is charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder, discharging a weapon into or onto a building causing serious impairment, discharging a weapon into or onto a building causing injury, five counts of he felony firearm charge and domestic assault and battery. He is being held at the Oakland County Jail with bail set at $75,000 cash or surety.

The arraignment is pending in Oakland County Circuit Court.
