Caroline Manzo claims Brandi Glanville 'forcibly fondled' her during alleged sexual assault on 'RHUGT': court documents

Manzo sued Bravo and its affiliates in January 2024 over sexual assault allegations — a year after PEOPLE first reported that she and Glanville would leave “RHUGT” early

Caroline Manzo has detailed her allegations of sexual assault against Brandi Glanville following events she says occurred during filming. The Ultimate Real Housewives Girls' Trip.

In a signed affidavit filed as part of her January 2024 lawsuit against Bravo and obtained by PEOPLE, the The Real Housewives of New Jersey a former student, 62, claimed Glanville, 51, “forcibly fondled my vagina” during her time on the spinoff show, while Bravo producers complacently filmed the alleged assault. At the time of Bravo's investigation into the incident, Glanville denied any wrongdoing.

“When Glanville was sexually assaulting me on the couch, she would rub my vagina,” Manzo alleged in the affidavit. “The producers just watched and kept filming. They saw I was in distress and yet they kept filming.”

The reality star claimed producers “didn't separate Glanville from me” but “kept giving her alcohol” and “allowed” her to follow Manzo into the bathroom where she said being assaulted a second time, according to the affidavit.

“When I tried to escape the toilet, Glanville then threw me against the toilet door, hitting my head, and locked me in the bathroom where she forcibly fondled my vagina against my will,” she claimed in the document, saying producers “saw me.” I tried to escape, but it didn't help.”

“I understand that one of the producers tried to open the door to get in because he knew I was being sexually assaulted,” she said. “The producers certainly saw when I tried to escape the toilet and yet allowed Glanville to bang my head against the door, lock me in the toilet and assault me.”

Manzo said in the affidavit that she believed Glanville “maliciously sexually assaulted me for his own sexual gratification” by “forcibly kissing me, rubbing her vagina on me and then (stroking) my vagina against my wish”.

Back in New York, the Manzo with children The star claimed in the document that she asked producers not to mention the incidents while filming her “pick-up” interviews. After recounting how she suffered from “anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress,” Manzo claimed that producers made her “relive the sexual assaults” with the intention of “creating more 'drama' in the “interview for their own audiences and profit.”

“They knew I opposed sexual assault and they retaliated by causing me even more emotional harm to generate controversy,” she claimed in her affidavit.

When contacted, a representative for Bravo, Peacock and NBC Universal had no comment. Representatives for Glanville, Shed Media, Forest Productions, Warner Bros. and Manzo's attorney did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request.

In January 2023, PEOPLE was the first to report that Glanville and Manzo would be leaving RHUGT shortly after Glanville allegedly kissed her several times during the evening without her consent.

A year later, Manzo filed a lawsuit against Bravo and its affiliates – specifically Forest Productions, Warner Bros. Entertainment, NBCUniversal Media, Shed Media and Peacock TV – for accusations that they “regularly made Real Housewives cast members drink alcohol, causing them to become seriously intoxicated, and then bossing them around, encouraging them and/or allowing them to harass sexually assault other cast members because it's good for the ratings. »

In February 2023, representatives from Peacock and Shed Media released a joint statement to PEOPLE.

“The safety and security of the cast and crew during filming is extremely important and we take all reports seriously,” it read. “In this situation, production has immediately launched a thorough study and is taking appropriate measures.”

Amid the investigation into the incident, Glanville missed Traitors season one reunion and released a statement to PEOPLE.

“Brandi wanted nothing more than to witness Traitors meeting,” a rep for Glanville told PEOPLE in February 2023. “This has been one of Brandi's favorite projects.”

“Brandi was forbidden from sharing her side of the story and in return people only heard unsubstantiated versions,” the spokesperson added. “Brandi maintains her innocence and vehemently denies any wrongdoing.”
