Career crime fighter Jerry Williams launches campaign for Lake County sheriff

Jerry Williams, a longtime Lake County resident and Indiana State Police major, launched his campaign Saturday, June 22, to become Lake County's next sheriff, promising to bring more three decades of experience and a well-deserved reputation for integrity and transparency.

Maj. Williams said he would be sheriff for all county residents and praised the department's civilian and uniformed employees as dedicated public servants.

“The people of Lake County demand the highest standards from their public servants, and I am proud of the record and reputation I have built by upholding high standards,” said Maj. Williams. “I look forward to working with and learning from the men and women of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department so that we can all meet the highest expectations.”

Major Williams, who was born and raised in Gary, has an excellent reputation for integrity and leadership as a crime fighter and public servant.

Since 2013, Major Williams has served on the executive staff of the Indiana State Police under Superintendent Douglas G. Carter, and has responsibly managed hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars for a wide range of facilities and services.

Major Williams has also worked with Lake County police departments, including the Gary Police Department, where he managed a wide range of improvements and served as interim chief of the department.

Major Williams has launched a campaign website, JerryWilliamsForSheriff.com, where visitors can learn more about the candidate, donate to the campaign and sign up to volunteer to connect with people in Lake County. Jerry Williams For Sheriff is the campaign's Facebook page.
