Caravan theft earns man more than four years in prison

The most recent sentencing memo from the Tehama County Prosecutor's Office.

CPD – The People Against Nathaniel Clemes (24CR239); (23CR631); (23CR878); PC496D, Receiving a Stolen Vehicle, Trailer, Construction Equipment, or Vessel, a Felony; two probation violations.

Brief History: 24CR239: Officers investigated the theft of a trailer and other miscellaneous tools. The investigation led the police to find the accused. A vehicle associated with the defendant was observed under surveillance towing the stolen trailer. 23CR631: The defendant was initially granted probation for a conviction for possession of a controlled substance while armed and violated the terms and conditions of his probation. 23CR878: The defendant was initially granted probation for a second-degree robbery conviction and violated the terms and conditions of his probation. Sentenced to 4 years and 8 months in state prison.

The Corning Police Department investigated these cases.

CHP-People against Gregory Cooley, (20CR2210); PC29800(a)(1), Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a felony.

Brief History: CHP conducted a traffic stop on defendant for speeding. The defendant was on conditional release with the possibility of search. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm in the trunk of the vehicle. Sentenced to 16 months in state prison.

The California Highway Patrol investigated this matter.

4. TCSO, RBPD-People v. Daisy May Wright, (21CR6); (22CR892); (22CR1203); PC29800, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a felony, PC1320(b), Failure to Appear Under Recognizance, a felony, PC496d(a), Receiving Stolen Property, a felony.

Brief history: 21CR6: The defendant was found asleep in her truck in the middle of the road. The defendant had an active warrant for her arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm, although the defendant is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms. 22CR892: After being arrested for possession of a firearm by a felon, the defendant was released on her own recognizance and ordered to return to court on February 17, 2021. The defendant failed to appear on that date, in violation of his promise to appear. 22CR1203: Officers received a report of a stolen vehicle and located the vehicle in the Ross parking lot. The defendant unlocked the vehicle with a key and retrieved something from inside, indicating he was in possession of the stolen vehicle. She also had four outstanding warrants and was arrested.

Sentenced to 3 years and 4 months state prison suspended, 2 years formal probation, 180 days county jail, 80 hours community service.

5. TCSO-People v. Jeanne Jerie Sims Stephens, (23CR2227); PC21310, Carrying a Dirk or a Dagger is a crime.

Brief History: During a pat-down search of the defendant, an officer found a fixed blade concealed in front of her waistband. The fixed blade knife measured approximately seven inches in length. Sentenced to 3 years state prison suspended, 2 years formal probation, 90 days county jail, 80 hours community service.

6. TCSO-People against Jakob Daniel Fontenot, (24CR21); HS11377(a), Possession of a controlled substance after a specified prior conviction, a felony.

Brief History: A deputy conducted a traffic stop for a tail light violation. The defendant, who was the driver of the vehicle, was on active parole with searchability. A search of his vehicle revealed the presence of methamphetamine. The defendant was arrested without incident.

Sentenced to 3 years formal probation for drug treatment, proposition 36. The Tehama County Sheriff's Office investigated this case.

7. RBPD-People v. Shamra Lotte Holt, (23CR2540); PC211, Second-degree theft, a felony, PC69, Resisting an officer, a felony.

Brief History: Defendant shoplifted merchandise from Food Maxx. When an employee confronted the defendant, a physical altercation occurred. The officers contacted the defendant in the parking lot to detain her, and the defendant kicked one of the officers during her arrest.

Sentenced to 3 years formal probation, 180 days in county jail, and 80 hours community service. Red Bluff Police investigated this matter.
