Car transporter catches fire near Nojoqui summit – edhat

A car hauler caught fire on southbound Highway 101 near Buellton early Monday.

At 2:03 a.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to Nojoqui Summit for a report of a car fire.

When crews arrived, they discovered a tractor-trailer with a trailer that was carrying four “exotic cars,” according to Capt. Scott Safechuck.

The driver of the car transporter attempted to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived, but was unsuccessful. The fire spread to brush located near Highway 101.

Crews were able to quickly extinguish bushfires and vehicle fires within thirty minutes of arrival.

Southbound traffic on Highway 101 was diverted through Buellton to Highway 154 for a period of time.

The investigation is looking into the causes of the fire.
