Cannes Film Festival faces backlash over alleged racist treatment of women of color YoonA Kelly Rowland Massiel Taveras

Cannes is under scrutiny after a security guard, previously criticized for similar behavior, allegedly targeted K-pop star YoonA with racist treatment. The incident followed a confrontation involving Kelly Rowland and Dominican actress Massiel Taveras.

The guard allegedly blocked YoonA from interacting with the cameras, leading fans to believe that the guard had issues with “women of color posing on stairs.”

Take a look at the video below:

The fan who posted this video wrote: “I found out this racist woman from security at Cannes did the same thing to Yoona on the red carpet??? Like why is she still here and isn't- she not fired after the Kelly Rowland situation???? (sic)”

YoonA, who attended the 77th Cannes Film Festival in a pink dress, was seen in a video looking uncomfortable after being rushed by the guard. The video surfaced after the Kelly Rowland incident, where Rowland suggested the guard's actions were motivated by racism.

Fans pointed out the “mistreatment” when the American actors were given more time to pose. Another video showed Massiel Taveras arguing with the same guard, who tried to stop her from posing in her dress. Taveras finally got past the guard.

Kelly Rowland, in an interview with AP, said she stood her ground against the guard, emphasizing that other women who did not look like her were not scolded or pushed. This series of events sparked discussions about racial bias at the festival.
