Candidate for Wagoner County Sheriff

Wagoner County rancher, family man, officer and Republican Tyler Cooper is running for Wagoner County Sheriff.

Tyler Cooper is a devoted family man and born-again believer. He has lived and served the Wagoner County community with his wife, Rachael, and growing family since 2014.

Before moving to Wagoner County, Tyler was completing his master's degree in criminal analysis and serving in the Air National Guard in Ohio.

In 2014, Tyler began his journey in law enforcement after being hired as a detention officer in the Wagoner County Jail.

In late 2014, he was selected for CLEET, the Oklahoma Police Academy, to become a Wagoner County Sheriff's Deputy. Tyler left Wagoner County in 2017 and began working full-time at the GRDA Police Department.

He continued to work for Wagoner County as a reserve officer until 2018. Tyler was promoted to Lieutenant in 2018 within the GRDA Police Department and was selected to attend the 15th OSBI Officer Academy.

He continued to gain leadership experience at GRDA, with responsibilities that included payroll, dive team, training framework, planning and budget. He directly supervises nineteen employees and is one of nine administrators of the GRDA police force, which has more than eighty officers.

Tyler is active in the Wagoner County and Oklahoma Cattlemen's Associations and serves as assistant treasurer at Grace Baptist Church just outside of Wagoner. “The Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to run for this position. I thank God for my local church, my family, and our home in Wagoner County.

“My desire to serve as Wagoner County Sheriff stems from a need for integrity and transparency. As the county's chief law enforcement officer, I will serve honorably as a principled Christian conservative. If the people of Wagoner County elect me as county sheriff, I will protect our streets and treat all residents with the same respect.

“If elected, my first task will be to ensure the retention of deputies, increase the presence of deputies and improve the organizational structure for financially responsible management practices. » “I want to restore confidence in law enforcement.” Former Wagoner County Sheriff Dan David recently endorsed Tyler for sheriff, saying, “Tyler Cooper is the complete package: a Christian family man, a successful Republican businessman, a veteran of the Air Force and a former Wagoner County deputy. Cooper has the experience and strength to keep our county safe and lead the Sheriff's Office with integrity.

“I humbly ask you to join me in voting for Tyler Cooper for Wagoner County Sheriff on June 18th! Thank you and God bless you.
