A Canandaigua man could spend 20 years behind bars if convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received information from Snapchat in July 2023 and January 2024 that an account was saving, sharing or uploading suspected child pornography to the platform.

A search warrant was executed at the home of Joshua AbrilAlicea on April 26, 2024, during which several digital devices were seized.

During the execution of the warrant, the 28-year-old man was observed with an underage girl. An investigation later determined that he had sex with the girl, leading to a rape charge from the New York State Police.

The investigation also determined that the victim had sent several nude photos to AbrilAliciea via Snapchat, which she had saved on her cell phone.

If convicted, AbrilAlicea faces between five and 20 years in prison.
