Can You Spot This Alleged Orange County Binocular Thief?

This would-be thief may have been a little short-sighted with this plan.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the Irvine Police Department sent out a few tweets asking the public for information about a man suspected of stealing an expensive pair of binoculars from a birding equipment store.

The post, full of bird puns, showed a video of a man hiding the binoculars in his pants before walking out without paying.

The incident took place on June 5. The pair of binoculars the man left with is worth $4,800, according to police.

Security footage taken outside the store shows him entering a gray Lexus sedan.
