Calvert County Sheriff's Office Receives Team Excellence Award

CALVERT COUNTY, Maryland— The Calvert County Board of Commissioners recently honored the Calvert County Sheriff's Office Vehicle Theft Alert Team with a Team Excellence Award. The award recognized the team's outstanding performance in a high-stakes operation on January 6, 2024.

Led by Sgt. Robshaw, the team embarked on a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle. Throughout the operation, the team demonstrated exemplary mastery and respect for its training.

A significant contribution came from K-9 Stryker and his handler, DFC Chris Idol, whose tracking skills were critical to the apprehension of the suspects. Additionally, Cpl. Bortchevsky and Deputy Michael Daily used drones equipped with thermal detection, enhancing their ability to successfully track and arrest all suspects involved.

The ceremony celebrated the dedication and courage of team members in keeping the community safe. Among those recognized were Sheriff's Communications Officer Lyndell Richardson, Deputy Joshua Newton, Detective Brenna Hudson, DFC Chris Idol, Senior Deputy Richard Cress, Cpl. Robert Shrawder, Master Sgt.

Shawn Morder, Deputy Justin MacWilliams, Sgt. Mark Robshaw and Lt. Col. Dave Payne. Also present were Commissioners Mike Hart, Ricky Cox, Catherine Grasso (Vice Chair), Earl F. “Buddy” Hance (Chair), Todd Ireland and Mark Cox Sr.

The community congratulates the honorees for their exceptional teamwork and commitment to public safety.
