A man accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old Burkburnett girl in her home while her parents slept in another room is back in the Wichita County Jail.

Keith Joseph Syvinski, 29, was arrested in California about two weeks ago and extradited to Wichita Falls.

He was being held Thursday in lieu of $200,000 bail, according to online Wichita County Jail records.

Everyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

According to allegations in court affidavits in the case, the girl's parents told police she admitted to “losing her virginity” to Syvinski in March 2019 at the family home and to had sex with him again the next day.

The girl's mother told investigators that her daughter and Syvinski met through an online dating service and began chatting on Snapchat. The mother said she posed as her daughter on social media and when Syvinski discovered the scheme, he offered her money to keep the assault a secret.

Syvinski told a detective who interviewed him at Fort Sill that he took the girl for the purpose of having sex, but denied that sex ever occurred. Syvinski was arrested and released a few days later.

He is charged with second-degree felonies, punishable by two to 20 years in prison if convicted.
