Cabool police: man arrested for alleged rape and pedophilia

The Cabool Police Department has handled calls and incidents over the past week, including two incidents of domestic violence.

The department reported 26 traffic stops resulting in nine summonses and 12 warnings issued. Five arrests for non-traffic offenses were made. An arrest warrant was issued.

At 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, a single-vehicle crash occurred on US 60 at the US 63 interchange. A 2022 Ford Escape traveling west on US 60, operated by Roger Halstead, 79-year-old from Yukon ran off the left side of the road and struck a fence owned by TMB Reed Farm Supply.

On May 20, Christina Alset, 42, of Cabool, was summoned for shoplifting in connection with a theft that occurred at the Garden Inn truck stop.

On May 21, domestic assault summonses were issued against Bryson Massey and Alyssa Geyer following an altercation at a residence on Blair Avenue. Geyer was also summoned for first-degree trespassing.

On May 22, the Cabool Police Department and the Texas County Special Response Team arrested Tommy L. Smith, 55, of Cabool. A probable cause statement was sent to the Texas County Prosecutor and an arrest warrant was issued for Smith for several offenses, including: first degree rape or attempted rape, first degree sodomy or attempted sodomy (victim under 12), first degree rape or attempted sodomy (victim under 12), first degree rape or attempted rape. pedophilia (victim under 12), second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy, and patronizing prostitution (over 14, under 18). Smith is being held in the Texas County Jail without bail. The investigation began in February 2023.

On May 24, officers issued a summons to Daniel McNally, of Bay, Ark., for theft in reference to an incident at Dollar General in Cabool. McNally allegedly took a backpack that did not belong to him. A traffic stop on McNally's vehicle was conducted by the Houston Police Department and the backpack was found in McNally's possession.

In total, police handled one accident, one alarm, 10 animal complaints, two domestic violence calls, one juvenile matter, one mental instability incident, one public disorder incident, three theft/ theft, four incidents of suspicious activity, one incident in an unsecured building, and received assistance. other agencies on three occasions, provided a private escort, and assisted the public on two occasions.

Firefighters were dispatched 11 times.
