Butte County wildfire forces evacuations, 2 structures involved

BUTTE COUNTY – Fire crews are battling a wildland fire that burned about 750 acres in Butte County and forced evacuations Saturday afternoon.

Two structures are involved as the fire burns at a dangerous rate, the Cal Fire Butte unit said.

The Junes Fire is burning in Palermo, near Four Junes Way and the Palermo Honcut Highway.

Evacuation orders were issued for areas 907-A, 906 and 905 but have since been reduced to warnings.

Zones 922, 924 and 925 were evacuation warnings and these have been abandoned. A map of Butte County evacuation zones is available online.

The fire is burning near the Butte and Yuba county line, but no warnings or evacuation orders have been issued in Yuba County at this time.

It is currently unknown what started the fire. No injuries were reported.

The Cal Fire Butte unit is also battling a vegetation fire in the Robinson Mill area. This fire, the Rocky Fire, has burned approximately three to five acres and is threatening immediate structures.

Shortly before 6 p.m., the Butte County Sheriff's Office issued evacuation orders for the Rocky Fire for areas 672, 671 and 665.

Palermo is about 65 miles north of Sacramento and has a population of about 5,500.
