Butte County Sheriff's Office investigates alleged assaults in Oroville


THE Butte County Sheriff's Office investigates alleged assault involving at least three people Oroville.

On the night of May 31, officers went to the 4600 block of Virginia Avenue to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

At the home, police learned that a physical fight had broken out between at least three adults. A man was reportedly injured and had to be hospitalized for treatment.

The man then left the hospital against medical advice, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies filed a report and opened an investigation.

The following night, June 1, the Sheriff's Office and Cal-Fire received a report that a drunk man had collapsed on the same block of Virginia Avenue.

The sheriff's office said the man was in critical condition.

Deputies reportedly believe this man was involved in the May 31 altercation and possibly a second altercation on June 1.

Investigators are working to determine whether the man collapsed due to injuries from the altercation or an unrelated medical issue, the sheriff's office said.
