Bushfire burning in the Gila River in Avondale

The fire is burning on the river bottom near I-10 and Dysart Road. Here are the latest details.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Crews are battling a brush fire at the bottom of the Agua Fria River in Avondale.

The fire is on the north side of Interstate 10 near the Dysart Road exit.

The Avondale Fire Department says they and other departments were called to the scene at 8:10 p.m.

When crews arrived on scene, the fire was only 100 feet by 100 feet, but Sky12 video shows the fire grew.

The department says the fire is in a difficult-to-access area and is burning slowly.

No structures are threatened and no one was injured.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.
