Bush fire burns near Highway 10 in Cabazon area – NBC Los Angeles

A brush fire burned near Highway 10 Tuesday afternoon in the community of Cabazon in Riverside County.

The fire was approximately 60 acres near Bonita Avenue and Elm Street. Flames and smoke began rising from the area around 1 p.m.

There was no confinement around 2 p.m.

The fire occurred about a half-mile from the eastbound lanes of Highway 10. No road closures were reported Tuesday afternoon.

“The fire is releasing a significant amount of smoke, impacting I-10,” the Riverside County Fire Department said. “Please avoid the area due to impacts to air quality while firefighters work to contain the fire.”

No injuries were reported. There was no immediate threat to buildings in the area, which is home to the Cabazon Dinosaurs and Cabazon Outlets.

Water planes responded to the scene.

Details on a cause were not immediately available.
