Burlington man, juvenile arrested in alleged home burglary | Hawk's Eye – Burlington, Iowa

A Burlington man and a juvenile man were arrested for an alleged burglary last Wednesday.

Marion Wilson, 18, was arrested by the Burlington Police Department and charged with Third Degree Burglary (Class D Felony).

At approximately 2:43 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the 500 block of Dunham Street for reports of a burglary at a residence.

When police arrived, they spoke with the homeowner and her daughter, who both said they saw two men walking toward their house and, a few minutes later, saw them enter the house through a front entrance before yelling at them to leave, according to a criminal complaint.

One of the girl's friends filmed a video of the two leaving the house, which police used to identify Wilson and the juvenile, the complaint states.

Officers also located a toolbox in the backyard of the residence that had been opened with a screwdriver lying next to it, observed a deadbolt on the rear door of the home that was damaged and signs of forced entry, according to the complaint.

The homeowner reported missing a black and gold basketball, two pairs of Everlast boxing gloves and a five-pound round plastic weight.

Police went to Wilson's home and attempted to speak with him, but he refused, the complaint states.

A search warrant was executed on Wilson's vehicle and home, evidence was found and Wilson was placed under arrest and taken to the Des Moines County Jail, according to a press release from the Department of Burlington police.

The juvenile was also charged with third-degree burglary.

Wilson was later released on his own recognizance. His next scheduled court date was not available Tuesday morning.
