Retail theft. A Bunnell man stole two 12-packs of alcoholic teas just two days before he was sentenced for drug possession.

It was the second time the man stole the same drink from the same general store in two months, according to his arrest record. A police officer was called to the general store after a man entered the store's receiving area and stole the two 12-packs, totaling $38.

Surveillance footage and a witness statement at the scene showed the man stealing the teas and leaving on his bicycle. A few days later, after the man had already been sentenced to 90 days in jail for drug possession, police identified the suspect and went to his home.

The suspect's roommate told police the man was already in jail because he had driven the suspect to the jail to turn himself in. The officer then went to the prison to question the suspect, where he admitted to stealing the teas.

Intrusion. A Flagler Beach man was arrested after he was caught drinking along the pier boardwalk, but not because of the open container of alcohol.

A police officer saw the man drinking a beer as he walked along the boardwalk and stopped to tell him it wasn't allowed, according to the suspect's arrest report. The suspect drank the remains of the beer and threw the can before continuing his walk.

The officer, however, recognized the man and ran a background check – only to discover that the suspect had been smuggled in from the pier and boardwalk last August. The officer caught up with him and asked him why he was near the pier at the time of the intrusion.

The suspect said the trespassing permit had expired because “it was over a year ago.” The officer told him that the time limit had not in fact expired and placed the suspect under arrest.
