Brownsville shooting: 2 elderly people shot near Livonia Park in Brooklyn, New York; police question 5 people

BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn (WABC) — Two people in their 60s were injured after gunfire broke out Saturday evening near a Brooklyn park.

Police said the shooting happened around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Powell Street and Livonia Street.

When police arrived, they found a 71-year-old woman shot once in the right leg and twice in the torso. Police also found a 70-year-old man shot in the left leg.

First responders transported the victims to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition.

According to the NYPD, there are currently no arrests, but five people have been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the incident.

Authorities are still investigating what may have led to the shooting.
