Broward Sheriff's Advisory Board Honors Medal of Valor Recipients with Valor Ceremony and Luncheon

South Florida non-profit celebrates the courage and dedication of Broward County first responders with winners’ luncheon

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida., June 12, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — On Wednesday May 8thTHE Broward The Sheriff's Advisory Council hosted its annual Bravery Luncheon at the Marriot Harbor Beach Resort & Spa. The event is intended to show respect to Broward County Medal of Valor recipients.

Guests were greeted with a welcome reception, followed by the ceremony and lunch during which Broward County The first responders were awarded the Medal of Valor in recognition of their various acts of courage, bravery and compassion. This award recognizes first responders who sacrifice their safety for the lives of others, honoring their oath and protecting their communities.

  • Officer Jonathan Brooks and Officer Griffon Jossfolk (Sunrise Police Department) jumped into a canal to rescue a driver who had suffered a medical issue and had left the road and ended up in water.
  • Detective Jean Saint Amour (Coconut Stream Police Department) was one of the first on the scene of a serious car accident, applying a tourniquet to the leg of a woman injured in the crash and helping to save her life.

  • Terry Jackson (Broward of the Sheriff's Office Department of Fire and Emergency Services) was lost in the tragic failure of Air Rescue Team 85's helicopter, where he was a flight surgeon.
