Brother calls on Fordham neighborhood to help find missing, intellectually disabled sister

The brother of a missing 54-year-old woman is asking the public to help find her.

Minister Ricardo Shark says he is actively searching for his sister, Shani McPherson, who has been missing since May 22.

He's calling on help from his neighborhood in Fordham, where they've lived for more than 20 years.

Shark says McPherson is intellectually disabled and it could have been caused by one of her episodes.

“She may seem like she's okay, but she's not really. But inside, she's not okay because she's dealing with mental health issues,” Shark said.

He tells News 12 he last saw his sister at his home at 2661 Decatur Ave. before going to work, and when he returned later that night, she was gone.

McPherson is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.

Shark says she is usually at home or at the senior center and walks along Fordham Road during the day and it is unusual for her to walk at night.

“It's very rare that she walks around at night, so she's probably the one experiencing one of her episodes and I don't know how long it can last,” Siad Shark.

He said he hopes she will be found before Memorial Day weekend.

“People party on weekends, which can make the situation more unstable. So we want to avoid that and bring her home as quickly as possible,” he says.
