EAST CALN — Both lanes of Boot Road near Southwind Drive are closed to all traffic due to a dip or hole in the roadway that was initially mistakenly caused by a sinkhole.

A PennDOT spokesperson said Tuesday there are no voids causing sinkholes under the road.

No estimate of when road repairs will take place has been given, according to a Facebook post from East Caln Township.

The damage that occurred Sunday was caused by a ruptured sewer line in West Whiteland Township.

“Please exercise caution and plan accordingly if you must travel to this area, which should be avoided unless absolutely necessary,” the township’s message read.

Motorists east of Southwind Drive should use Quarry Road and those west of Southwind Drive can use Rt. 322 Chestnut Street. or Skelp Level Road.

Large trucks not making local deliveries should avoid the area due to the height of local bridges and weight restrictions.
